Rabbit
“‘Rabbit’ is an edition of 10 plaster studio casts created in 2021 by British sculptor Nicola Hicks. Hicks is known for her loosely rendered sculptures of animals, humans, and mythical creatures crafted from straw and plaster and often cast in bronze. Although rooted in an enduring interest in anatomy and observations of life, Hicks believes that her works are essentially about evoking a strong visceral response and have little to do with reality and visual fact. Hicks does not work from life but rather from her imagination, manipulating the straw and plaster until it captures the creatures’ spiritual energy.”
