Venus Milk

Prue Stent and Honey Long are an acclaimed Australian contemporary artist duo known for their surreal, tactile, and highly sensual collaborative work. Lifelong friends who began working together as teenagers in 2010, they blend photography, performance, sculpture, and installation to explore the boundaries of the human form and its relationship to the natural world. Their signature aesthetic is often described as “wet and weird,” utilizing vivid colors, swaths of fabric, molten glass, and organic matter to distort, shroud, or fragment the female body. By creating uncanny, dreamlike imagery in raw landscapes like deserts and salt lakes, they subvert traditional representations of female sexuality and challenge passive stereotypes of femininity.

The duo reflect on their process as both research and ritual. They arrive at a site with fabric and a structure, then allow weather, tide, and duration to determine what happens next. Stent trained in dance before photography. Long worked with sculpture and installation. Together they use performance to test how material holds memory, and how two people can share authorship without hierarchy. They describe their images as records of time spent, not posed scenes. The work centers collaboration as both method and subject.
