Melting Flowers 2013

In large scale floral photography, inspired by 16th century still life paintings, Nick Knight exposes the prints to heat and water resulting in a hybrid of photography and painting. “It began with crayola exploration after researching Karl Blossfeldt and incorporating flowers into the colour spectrum. For my final piece I would take a photograph of some flowers and edit the photograph to make it look as if it was melting. When the image gets printed I would use acrylic paint to make the melting effect feel more real…”
